Edward Simataa and Recent Hampeyo, now 11 th graders at Nalituwe Secondary School, who mobilized other learners and formed a literacy club have again mobilized their club and prepared them for WRAD celebrations. We are thrilled to see a literacy club started by learners (on 1 st February 2023) join the rest of the world in participating in WRAD celebrations and advocating for literacy as a foundational human right.
Now as junior mentors, Edward and Recent (with support from their school teachers) are sharing what they learnt by empowering other learners and helping in creating safe and conducive learning environment at their school for the benefit of all learners. Our literacy clubs have an average membership of 15 to 20 but this Junior Mentors’ Literacy Club has a membership of about 27. Indeed Peer to Peer Education is happening at Nalituwe Secondary School (Livingstone, Zambia).
